Output of rainfall downscaling

Future rainfall data are outputted either as a time series or as a statistical IDF table, depending on the local data provided.

There are two input options (link to input), output depends on the option selected.

Output after upload of time series

The SUDPLAN Scenario Management System user interface allows the user to execute a downscaling for the same location as where the historical precipitation time series (used as input) were registered (link to input). The use can specify a time window of 30 years, within the bounds of the climate scenario period, for which the output will be valid.

The output time series exported will have exactly the same temporal resolution and length as the input data, but covering a future period with midpoint specified by the user. SUDPLAN will also visualize daily values of input (historical) and model output (downscaled) precipitation. There will also be statistical table describing the change in rainfall volume, intensity and frequency.

IDF (Intensity Duration Frequency) is a table which gives maximum rainfall intensity (mm/hr) as a function of duration period, e.g. 5, 10, 15… min, see left column in figure below) and return period in number of years, see top line in figure below). The user has input a historical IDF table and will receive as output the same type of table for future conditions representing a 30-year time window centered at the year specified by the user.

The input IDF values can be as extensive as given by the table below, but it could also be limited to a sole value (e.g. 49 mm/h during 30 minutes and with a return period of once per 10 year). The input IDF values can be read from file as three columns (duration, frequency, intensity).
